This is a transcript of the EMuck Opening Ceremonies, which occurred on Sunday 24 January 1998 at 9 PM EST.
Anniversary Gardens
You look around the peaceful gardens, and are struck with awe at its beauty.
To your right, there is a lovely marble fountain. Surrounding it, there are
flowers and trees of all kinds brought here by the residents of EMuck.
Directly in front of you, there is a large trellised Gazebo, perfect for
holding ceremonies, or having small band concerts. You notice a lovely statue,
and are curious to see what it is of.

Gazebo> Alice asks, "DD, are you going to set up your Stenographic camera in
the Gazebo? Seems to get a real good 360-degree view!"

Double_D says, "No, I'm all set."

Gazebo> Alice uhs...
Double D disappears in a cloud of white smoke. He emerges from the cloud
dressed up in a classic black and white tuxedo with a red bowtie and red
cummerbund, and with no white gloves.
Tux Mickey looks at the beautiful Gazebo.
Gazebo> Alice asks, "What's with the carrots in front of your text, Mickey &
DD?"
Mickey steps up into the Gazebo.
Gazebo> Alice exclaims, "Oh!"
Gazebo> Tux Mickey suavely says, "That was cause you are in this Gazebo and we
weren't"
Gazebo> Alice smiles!

Double_D says, "I wonder if Tahamaki will sing "Laptop in the Wind" for us."
Tux Mickey raises a champagne glass and toasts, "Where we are! But the
ceremony will be on the new site, in about 4 minutes"
Rufus looks around the beautiful Anniversary Gardens.

Double_D asks, "Should I switch?"
Rufus head-butts Alice's knee.

Like the Cheshire Cat, Alice disappears and quickly reappears as Glamour_Alice,
and cries out, "Congratulations to Emuck on its new home! How simply
MAH-velous!"
Double_D says, "Brb..."
Tux Mickey looks upon a vision of elegant lovliness, and Glamour_Alice cursteys
deeply in her long, sparkling formal blue gown, looks up at , winks and smiles
glamourously.
Glamour_Alice asks, with a glimmer of glamour, "Can we, er, 'beam' over to the
new location??"
Glamour_Alice smiles
Tux Mickey raises a champagne glass and toasts, "Ooooo, that gown looks
wunderfee on you!"
Rufus asks, "Shouln't we have the decommissioning ceremony first, Alice?"
Glamour_Alice coos.

Tahamaki says, "o/~ and it seems to me, you've lived your life, like a laptop
in the wind, ever processing data, when the freezing rain set in..."

Glamour_Alice sips from a bottle marked 'Drink Me', and suddenly, her diamond
tiara, long white gloves, and flowing, besparkled blue gown turn back into her
usual Alice In Wunderbarland attire -- simple, but neat 'n' pretty!
Tux Mickey adjusts his tuxedo lapels as he smugly asks, "What's the command to
change while online to another of your EMuck characters?"
Alice asks, "Isn't it just, @costume -resume ?"
Tux Mickey suavely says, "No, not @costume, but to switch online characters"
Tahamaki says, "@user name=pw"
Double_D is back.
Ariel asks, "Can you *do* that?"

out of view in front of you like a ghost.

Alice There's a sweet, yet very curious young girl getting someone's attention

Double_D exclaims, "I forgot my camera!"
Like the Cheshire Cat, Alice disappears and quickly reappears as Glamour_Alice,
and cries out, "Congratulations to Emuck on its new home! How simply
MAH-velous!"

A pair of flagpoles situated to either side of the Eternal Flame. The left
flagpole, corresponding to the burning left torch of the Eternal Flame,
bears a white flag with the blue EMuck arrow logo, waving proudly over the
Anniversary Gardens. A smaller banner under the flag reads:

metallic skin gleaming brightly under the sheen of brand new oil.

to paraphrase a line from Cheers, a little place on the Net where everyone
knows your name."
Tahamaki says, "elton just finished his song on alia..."
Beast exclaims, "Well, this is a splendid night for unparalleled lag! Took me
six tries to get a line from Mindspring, after busy signals."
Tux Mickey suavely says, "Two minutes to shutdown"
Double_D is nervous.
Belle says, "and in that time, I think we've done a pretty good job in
creating some place where we can all get together and share a moment with
other friends on the Internet."

Belle says, "and btw, for those who noticed, EMuck on alia is on its final
shutdown sequence. Less than 2 minutes to go."

The r.Daneel Robot Color Guard lower the EMuck flag to the bottom of the
left flagpole and slowly remove it so it can be folded.
Tux Mickey looks at the polished members of the r.Daneel Robot Color Guard.
Beast exclaims, "Argh! Lag!"

The r.Daneel Robot Color Guard solemnly remove the EMuck Flag from the left
flagpole. As they do so, the flame on the left torch of the Eternal Flame
slowly sputters out. It slowly extinguishes itself, save for a tiny ember
left smouldering on the left torch.

Tux Mickey looks at the silenced Eternal Flame and notices that the folded
flag now rests within the crystal plate at the front of the marble base.
The r.Daneel Robot Color Guard solemnly take the folded white-and-blue
triangle of the EMuck flag and slowly march to the marble base of the Eternal
Flame. One robot takes out a whistle and blows several notes on it, while the
remaining members open a clear crystal plate on the front of the base and
gently place the folded flag into the plate.
Tux Mickey reads the enscription on the crystal plate holding the flag.
Glamour_Alice looks at the silenced Eternal Flame and notices that the folded
flag now rests within the crystal plate at the front of the marble base.
The r.Daneel Robot Color Guard gently places the folded triangle of the
blue-on-white EMuck flag into the hollow on the Eternal Flame and close the
crystal plate cover over it to seal it in for all time....
Scooter looks at the Eternal Flame and its now-extinguished left torch.
Glamour_Alice reads the enscription on the crystal plate holding the flag.
Belle exclaims, "COLOR GUARD: PRESENT COLORS!"
Tux Mickey looks at the Eternal Flame and its now-extinguished left torch.
Beast grumbles and shakes a paw at the blockage wherever it may be.
The r.Daneel Robot Color Guard presents a folded blue-on-white flag....a
replacement flag to the one that has been retired.
Belle exclaims, "COLOR GUARD: RAISE FLAG!"
Rufus dabs quietly at his weeping eyes with his freshly pressed scarf.
Tux Mickey reads the enscription on the crystal plate holding the flag.
Double_D salutes.
Wedge takes a deep, silent breath
Glamour_Alice hugs Rufus as she holds back her own tears o'nostalgia
The r.Daneel Robot Color Guard takes the folded flag and attaches it to the
right flagpole and begins to lift the new flag in the air.
Tux Mickey thinks this ceremony is cheesy, that's why he likes it!
Rufus purrs, despite the formality of the occasion.
Belle watches as the new flag lifts into thesky.
Glamour_Alice smiles...

burning ember from the all-but-extinguished left torch on the Eternal Flame

The Eternal Flame is a polished white marble block, about 1 meter square and
3 meters tall. On the top of the block are two polished brass torches, which
taper gently to small cauldrons as they reach into the sky.
The left torch is unlit, but appears to have burned for a long time in the
past. The right torch is burning brightly, its flame flickering in the breeze.
There are several polished brass plaques along the faces of the marble
edifice. Two of them, one above the other, have text chiseled upon them,
which you can read if you 'look at the upper' plaque or 'look at the
lower' plaque.
There is also a crystal plate set into the side of the marble block. Inside
the clear plate is the triangular shape of a folded white-and-blue flag. A
small plague above the plate is visible and can be read if you 'look at the
crystal' plate.

Enclosed within this plate is the original flag of EMuck. This flag
represents EMuck's original home and host machine, alia. The Eternal Flame
was transferred from its original left torch to the right torch on this
twenty-fourth day of January of the year one thousand nine hundred ninety
eight, as AmberThree Productions' EntertainMuck moved to its new home.
